Georgia participated in the General Assembly of the International Organization for Aids to Navigation.

The State Hydrographic Service of Georgia, LEPL of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, participated in the inaugural General Assembly of the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) after its transformation into an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO), which was held in Singapore on February 18-21 of this year.

The status of an intergovernmental organization strengthens IALA’s mandate to achieve international standardization of global maritime navigation systems, promote maritime safety initiatives, and cooperate with member states to address challenges in the field of maritime safety.
Georgia, as a member state of IALA, was actively involved in the processes of transforming the association into an intergovernmental organization.
IALA unites maritime navigation institutions, manufacturers, consultants, and scientific and educational organizations from different countries worldwide.  Mission of IALA  is to harmonize maritime facilities worldwide and ensure the safe navigation of ships.
The Assembly was attended by Aleksandre Zarkua, Head of the Navigational Marks Technical Service and Monitoring Division of the State Hydrographic Service of Georgia.
