SHSG installed new meteo station at Poti Sea Port
SHSG has replaced amortized meteorological station at Poti Sea Port with a new station produced by world-leading company VAISALA . Equipped with high-sensitivity sensors and specialized software, the new meteorological station provides very important information for ships comprising wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, precipitation, and humidity.
Maritime safety is a very important part of the maritime policy of Georgia. Marine meteorology is one of the main fields of
safe navigation, which predicts difficult (dangerous) weather conditions for marine navigation.
The State Hydrographic Service of Georgia periodically provides information on actual meteorological data at sea to all vessels engaged in
maritime activities.
Above mentioned information is essential for the prevention of marine threats and incidents in the maritime space of Georgia.
Similar meteorological stations are planned to be located in Batumi port and different locations along the Georgian coast.
